The Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 girls had a fascinating visit from two policewomen this morning to find out more about what it takes to become a member of the Police force and what opportunities and different roles are available for women. The girls had many questions to ask and enjoyed finding out about being a member of the Mounted Police, working in the Dog squad, on the divisional van, using artistic skills to help people to identify someone or even as part of the Crime squad. Their message was that Police members help us to be safe and to keep us safe in our community and the girls were strongly encouraged to follow their interests and study hard to have lots of choices for their future careers. The girls got to see some of the police equipment including the batons they carry, their handcuffs and they even got to sit in the Police car! The policewomen showed us the lights and sirens, which was a great finale to their informative visit to Tintern today! Many thanks to Mrs Mary Whitcher, who kindly organised this visit from Lyn and Julie-Anne, our wonderful policewomen.
